My First Day on My AI Journey

My First Day on My AI Journey

Hi!

My name is Ömer. I am 9 years old, and today I want to tell you about the first day of my AI journey.

I had heard people talk about Artificial Intelligence before. I saw it online, in videos, and sometimes in projects my mom was working on. But if I am honest, I did not really know what AI was.

I used to think AI was something like a super-smart robot that knew everything.

Today, I learned that I was wrong.

My mom and I talked about Artificial Intelligence, and she explained that AI is a technology designed to help people.

At first, that sounded a little confusing.

Then she gave me some examples.

She told me that AI can help people write stories.

It can help create pictures.

It can answer questions.

It can help people learn new things and come up with creative ideas.

That made a lot more sense to me.

But the thing that surprised me the most was something else.

My mom told me that AI can make mistakes.

I could not believe it.

I thought AI always knew the right answer.

But it turns out that is not true.

Sometimes AI can give incorrect information.

Sometimes it can misunderstand a question.

And sometimes it can create answers that sound correct even when they are not.

That is why my mom told me something very important:

“Never believe something just because AI says it.”

I really liked that advice.

It reminded me that thinking for myself is important.

I also learned something else today.

AI is not a human being.

It does not have feelings.

It does not get happy or sad.

It does not dream.

It does not have friends.

It does not play games.

It simply uses information to help people.

At the end of our lesson, my mom asked me a question.

She said:

“Ömer, do you think AI is a good thing?”

I thought about it for a moment.

Then I answered:

“I think it can be very helpful if people use it the right way.”

My mom smiled.

And I smiled too.

Because today I learned something new.

This was the first day of my AI journey.

I think I still have a lot to learn.

What I Learned Today

✅ AI can help people.

✅ AI can make mistakes.

✅ AI is not a human.

✅ It is important to check information carefully.

✅ Learning new things can be fun.

🌟 Ömer Shares What He Learned

Later that evening, I decided to tell my little brother Çınar what I had learned about AI.

Çınar:
Ömer, is AI a robot?

Ömer:
Sometimes AI can be inside a robot, but AI is not just a robot. It can also work on computers and phones.

Çınar:
Can AI eat ice cream?

Ömer:
Nope. It does not have a mouth.

Çınar:
Not even chocolate ice cream?

Ömer:
Not even chocolate ice cream. It cannot taste anything.

Çınar:
That sounds sad.

Ömer:
A little bit. But it can still help people.

Çınar:
Can AI play games?

Ömer:
It can tell us about games, but it cannot enjoy playing them like we do.

Çınar:
Does it have friends?

Ömer:
No.

Çınar:
Does it celebrate birthdays?

Ömer:
No.

Çınar:
Then it sounds like a pretty boring life.

Ömer:
Maybe a little. 😄

Çınar:
I think I would rather be a human.

Ömer:
Me too!

And that was our very first conversation about Artificial Intelligence.
